RBPaschal has sent me a link to a very interesting BBC article
by Paul Rincon, BBC Science, entitled
"Greeks 'borrowed Eyptian numbers' ".
see
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3109806.stm
which refers to
Stephen Chrisomalis
and his September, 2003 article in Antiquity entitled
"The Egyptian origin of the Greek alphabetic numerals".
I am certain that this is surely true
especially in view of my 1999 chart on the origin of the alphabet at
http://www.lexiline.com/lexiline/lexi5.htm
which much precedes the work of Chrisomalis.
