The Red Goddess is not all that can be found at Traben-Trarbach and
the Moselle [Mosel] River. We have discovered that the very steep
Hunsrück side of the river from Litziger Ley in Traben-Trarbach to
almost the village of Enkirch, seems to have large rock drawings
hewn out of the side of the cliffs which depict large birds of
various kinds. Many of these land parcels are today used to grow
wine. Of course, vineyard parcels hewn out of this rugged terrain
would expectedly be irregular, conforming to the lay of the land.
But we do not think they would have these shapes, although we may be
wrong. We find that dozens of birds were carved into the cliffs long
ago and that many of these are being used now as vineyard parcels,
but not all of them. Still this is very speculative for now.
