The region of Northeim and Nörten-Hardenberg near Hardegsen and
Göttingen mark Ursa Minor. Recent excavation at the sitee of
Grossenrode (Großenrode) may have uncovered an earthwork in the
shape of a battle axe – so we allege – and this region was unusually
rich in finds of ancient work axes, perhaps as offerings?

The city of Northeim and the town of Nörten-Hardenberg also point in
their names to Ursa Minor - called Nortes by Spanish navigators.
