LexiLine Journal #206 - 2003 : Ifri N'Ammar Afso (Afsou) Morocco Rock Drawing Decipherment

Welcome!

.

A German Archaeology Magazine to which I subscribe called Archäologie
(published by Konrad Theiss Verlag GmbH, Postfach 104827, 70042
Stuttgart) has an article in its March-April issue on a joint German-Moroccan
archaeology project at the site of Ifri N'ammar, Afso (Afsou) commune, Nador
province, Rif, northern Morocco.

See in German

See in English

and for information on Moroccans in a historical context see

Although all the attention has been given to human remains found at
this site, the archaeologists have completely overlooked the carved rocks
outside and inside the cave on the Rif which is pictured in Archäologie magazine at
page 15.

I have discovered these rock drawings and deciphered them in an
uploaded file
ifrinammar.gif
which I have uploaded to our Africa directory at
http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/LexiLine/files/

showing that the OUTSIDE of the cave marks the stars from
the head of Hydra to Aquila in a mirror-reversed order
so that this marks the stars along the ecliptic at the inside
thinner part of the Milky Way.

and the inside of the cave has clear figures carved on the wall
which in turn marks the stars along the ecliptic at the inner
thicker part of the Milky Way.

These are
an elephant at Perseus
an owl at Cassiopeia
a human figure (female) with a head at Cepheus
and legs at the break in the Milky Way at Cygnus
and more figures above that to the right which might mark
Hercules and Ophiuchus, but I am not sure about those.

If the entrance to the cave marks the Summer Solstice, then these
rock drawings date also to ca. 3117 BC in spite of the fact that the human remains
found there are being dated to a much earlier date by the archaeologists.
